this is an object i found in what i believe is an 1830's native American campsite I'm trying to catalogue what ive found and i thought id throw this up here because I'm not sure what to begin to call it. its 5 to 6 inches long. i know its not much but who knows maybe someone will recognize it.

It appears to be the handle from a tinplated sheet-iron cup or coffeepot or other similar container. Although such objects were called "tinware," the metal is actually only tinplated, not made of tin.

You can still buy newly-made tinware cups and coffeepots (and etc.) today. A lot of it is sold to civil war battle re-enactors for use at their army-camp re-enacting. Every non-Officer soldier was supposed to carry his own tinware cup.

thanks cannonballguy now that you point it out it seems pretty obvious. good id, fits right with some other items.
