I have found quite a few like that, even in nickels. I went last week to get $100 worth, and when they brought them out I saw that several were obviously short. I opened one there in front of the teller and she saw that it was 4 coins short. I pointed out 4 that were short and told her I did not want those, and she replaced them with 4 normal ones. I now try to get only sealed boxes.

I see it happening quite frequently, but I also see it happening the other way just as much. Once I got three extra quarters in a fed roll. That's the most (in coins) either way I've gotten. For a few weeks I was weighing the hand rolled quarters I searched to see if I came out ahead or even, it turned out I was about even, although finding nickels in quarters and dimes in penny rolls is extremely common for me.

I few weeks ago I got a sealed box. All the rolls were fully crimped and did not look tampered with, but one roll was 50¢ short and another was $1 short. I feel it is just the cost of doing business.

I keep pretty good books and right now I am several $$ ahead. I find a lot of dimes in customer wrapped rolls of cents. So far this year I think it is up to 55.

I got a sealed box with a caved-in roll last week that was 4 short.
The same thing happened to me last year once but at least there was a walker in it.
Also have had "fat" rolls, too or rolls with Sac'c & SBA's. A teller came out of the vault with a box to give me all the halves they had once which was 12 rolls or $120 worth. When I went to search them, I found that she had thrown in 2 full rolls of Sacs. It will all even out.
and... like Wayne says - dimes are rampant in penny rolls.
Good luck!

Thanks. I thought maybe someone was CRH and picked the keepers, but didn't replace the missing coin(s) with another.

The most I've gotten in a machine rolled roll was 22 coins. The fewest I've gotten was 16 coins. I've gotten every denomination substituted (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, SBA, Sacagawea, and presidential dollars). I had one CWI box once that when I opened it, it was like looking at a mountain range. I think I ended up breaking even on that box, but sometimes I just don't want to know.

I got a box a few months back that was all tore up and taped. They were all jumbled so I counted the rolls. There was one extra in it. I think that puts me ahead for some shorts. Then I got $120 in quarters a while back. I found a silver, 3 extra quarters and a $1 coin. Sweet..................

So far the only roll problem I have had is a got a roll of halves in a box that had a nickle in the middle instead of a half. I told "my girl" at the bank when I picked up the next order and she gave me 45cents back. I love Chase!
