Only had two hours before dark to hunt.

Other than the 1690 W&M coin on the first day I have only had 1 unknown date from the 1800s. But today I hit several deep pre1950s coins, 2 of which were:
Farthing 1891
Penny 1899 - This was exactly a spade depth down, & when I measured my spade it was just a little over 8". How I found that 1690 I will never know, although it had settled in a gravel bed at a good depth. Cortes proving its worth again.

Two years off a silver with 1949 Two Shilling (our silvers finished in 1947). Kinda glad it wasn't silver as it was the last signal I dug in the dark & I scraped it a little. This rarely happens to me but I don't mind doing it on a useless coin.

£4.28 ($8.50) Spendable, ok for 2 hours.

Maybe next time I will get a large silver coin :-\

Nice show Crusader, thanks for the post! HH, Mike

Nice finds, old bean.... Looks like we may have our fun curtailed for a day or two according to the weather forecasts. :'(

Nice selection of finds! I live opposite to a large public park dating back to the early 18oos but it is strictly forbidden to use metal detectors there >:( >:(

Sorry for the goofy question but it's driving me crazy. What are those black things with the screw end in first pic and why are there so many in your parks? I've seen them in some of your other park posts. Thanks Jim

I was wondering the same thing myself...I have a feeling I have seen them in my murky past, maybe feet from a washing machine? ???

Football or as you say Soccer studs. They screw into the bottom of the boot for grip. They practice football in this park in the summer.
