I was too busy over the weekend to get out and swing :BangHead:. But today I was off from work early because the kids only had a half day of school. So what to do for a couple of hours...Yep go on a hunt for lost treasure. I packed up the kids and we went to an old house that I have hunted before. The first time I found a few Wheats and a 1925 Merc. This place is almost too clean, you can swing for a long time and not even get a break in the threshold. So you get excited to get any signal to dig. It was over an hour before I even dug a penny. It turned around when I got a really nice quarter signal and did the "please let it be silver" talk to myself, and dug my plug. About 3 inches down in the hole was that sweet shine of a silver quarter. It turned out to be a very worn dateless Standing Liberty Quarter! This is only my second one to dig, this one has seen better days but it was awesome to find. A few minutes later I found a Canadian Penny and then I got a really good high tone and signal and was the Chinese coin with a dragon on it and is bigger than a half dollar. I don't know how old it is so any help on an ID would be great. Did not dig a lot of signals but it was great to be out. The kids like it too, because I got a deal with them, if we find silver we go out for ice cream. :laughing7:

Hey Dave, good finds. The Chinese coin is late 1800's/early 1900's. It is one of the provincial coins, I think. Not enough detail for me to make a sure
i.d. I have a few that I have found or bought. They are always nice to find.....huge when they come out of the ground.
Good luck on future hunts. hikeinmts

Nice finds there Dave! Standing Liberty quarters are not easy to come by and the Chinese coin is a real conversation piece--much nicer than the cash coins you often see posted. I see you found a couple harmonica reeds as well. And those wedge shaped items--I just dug 2 this past weekend (and dug some a few years back)....not sure what they are, but I'm sure someone will tell us.

Thanks Erik, those are some type of strap/clamp that is used on a phone wire to attach it to the pole. They come up as a real nice dime/quarter on the detector and the joy is short lived when you see that it's not a coin.
