I took my 7 yr. old son camping this past week on some private property that was supposedly a union army camp. It was also an area where indians have been known to camp as well. We didn't get a chance to hunt for arrow heads. We got camp set up around noon and the weather was great! THere was a huge garden area that was just tilled and sitting there waiting to grow. The rest of the field was burned down and pretty easy to get around. Here are pics of my finds. The very first dig was a 9.5" pistol barrel. The rest of the stuff I have no idea what they could be. I'm just now learning how to clean rust off iron using electrolysis. That's not going as well as I'd like. The battery charger I'm using keep shutting off after about 15 min. There was plenty of modern stuff and the fields were littered with iron. Literally every 20 feet would signal some iron. I was given advice to dig everything that didn't signal iron so I skipped most of it. It looks like I should have dug more to see if I could find more artillery pieces. I detected all over that place and couldn't buy a button, mini, or a buckle. I'll dig more often next time for sure!
