Folks I'm not much of a posting type person....The reason, well not much to post! Ha... Since the back surgery I've recovered slowly and now am getting back into the digging. Since my post a few weeks ago (the trip with relikhunter and schloopy) I've been out twice. I have to not rip the metal out of my back so can't hunt everyday. LOL.....
Anyway, Renegade7 and I took off to a fellows property near a battlefield not far from here in south central Missouri. The property didn't turn out the finds we were hoping but isn't metal detecting 75% research and 25% chance? Don't know till you try right? The only find I had there was this buckle in the pic....If anyone can identify that as Civil War Era.....I'll be extremely excited. If not then a nice buckle it is.
Since the property didn't work out I ended up taking Renegade7 home so he could do his Honey-Do's, ha, ha and I took advantage of a few choice spots he'd told me about on the Fort here. I was only there about 90 minutes but it was nice to grab a few goodies from the area. Nothing like the Barber I posted last week but at least something to put in my pouch.
The thin aluminum ring at the top which I flattened out has the logo for the Cincinnati Red Legs on it with the Mascot leaning on a bat. I researched it and found that the only year the Mascot was as so was 1953. Nice bit of nostalgia.... The rest are not so old Wheaties, a 1943 Canadian Cent, a button, old key, cool looking Native American type costume jewelry and a Uncle Sam 10 cent play coin.....The play coin I've found many of in different denominations.....But this one is a little different. I've never found one like this that was dated...It's dated 1958. I thought that was kinda cool. Anyway, not a empty day in the pouch....Like I said, I'd appreciate if anyone can put a date on the buckle...
Look for more post from the ridge_runner hopefully in the future. As I said before the 4 or so of us that have been hunting together lately are trying to schedule hunts at each others locations at least monthly. It's truly nice to have a few hunting buddies that don't mind giving up some of there old spots or even new ones to good friends. Metal detecting for me is not about hunting solo....I like the camaraderie and good times had with good TH'ers.... There are some out there that don't share their good luck. Well, I have to say," We are more than happy to share in our fortunous spots or even the first time iffy spots. Even if a good spot is located and I find nothing but my partner does I'm more than happy to fill my trash pouch so he can pull a choice relic or coin the next time without having to sift through too much garbage.
As always, to my good hunting buddies and all my friends on Tnet. I'll always look forward to seeing ya'll again in the future. I wish I could've made the CTH hunt but to all that are there good luck and I can't wait to see the finds......
Till next time.
