Went out today on a field i walked over with the dogs the other day. Lots of pottery from roman to modern stuff. Worth a try to scratch the winter itch. Started to snow with strong wind so i stopped after 45 mins with all modern finds. Funny was the spoon handle with a hole drilled in. Guess it was for a string not to loose it somewhere. Didn't work... The porcellaine pipe cup was cool, about 4" in lenght an the biggest i ever stumbled over.

Didn't the Butler or Housekeeper wear the spoon on a chain around their neck to taste the food to make sure it was acceptable?

Good to see you can get out Lu. You always seem to find some kind of coin and musket balls. What no driving rings? The spoon might have hung from a soldiers neck so he wouldn't lose it but what war? I've seen your posts where Franco/Prussian battle lines are covered by WW2 stuff. Both on top of Roman. I think here the bigger the pipe bowl the more money he had. Hope they buried their gold near by. Good luck.
