I believe it’s a small shoe buckle that seems to match illustrations #6 1700-1730? or #10 1730-1760? Any way to know for sure? Thanks

I'll put in my vote for a small shoe buckle as well. Knee buckles had the holes on the other 2 sides of the buckle (the long way, if that makes sense).

I’m sure it only took 2 or 3 sticks of dynamite to get down to the defrosted soil, my driveway is softer than my backyard right now due to the arctic cold.
