✅ SOLVED Shoe Buckle age & ID?

I found this buckle under roots about 8" down on a relatively stony slope, about 20 feet in from a woodland stream. The buckle is brass with looks to be a ferrous clasp. I'm hoping it's 1700s but I'd like the opinion of the 'experts' at TNet!
