I found it at my family members home site from the late 1800's. The log cabin that was there has been donated to a museum. I have found a lot of old relics there just I can't figure out why this is in southwest Louisiana. No one in my family has any idea either. So any info would help.

I recognized it, because similar ones have been posted at the What-Is-It forum in the past... but my friend Nhbenz beat me to answering.
