Does anyone know of any records of shipwrecks off ES? The only record I can find is from Marx's "Shipwrecks of the Americas" which says "Year 1690. Due to a shortage of mercury in Mexico, the viceroy sent a small ship with over a million pesos in silver specie aboard for the purpose of buying mercury in Peru. Several days after sailing from Acapaulo, it was struck by a storm and soon afterward wrecked near a point of land on the southwest side of the Gulf of Fonseca. Salvors were able to uncover only a small part of the treasure, as most had been buried under shifting sands."

I live in ES and know that area well...at least as it is today. How would I find out more...even the name of the ship? Does anyone know of nay other wrecks off the ES coast? Obviously, I'm BRAND NEW at this!!

Thanks.
