While in Puerto Rico recently, I visited El Morro, The fortress located in Old San Juan. In the gift shop they have many great books , including Shipwrecks In Puerto Rico's History by Walter, A. Cardona Bonet, Also many books on history of the Carribean, Pirates, and Taino Indians, a must for anyone interested in history. Its a National Historic Site, Under the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.

Your friend Walter did another book called "El Marinero, Bandolero, Pirata Y Contrabandista Roberto Cofresi" The book is very interesting, its in Spanish and is about the Puerto Rican Pirate Roberto Cofresi.

Yes, I know the book. The father of Cofresí was from my city, Trieste and we know that he escaped to Puerto Rico because apparently killed a person. The true last name was Kupferstein.

Re: Shipwrecks In Puerto Rico's History

Trieste is to the northeastern of Italy. Up to 1918 it was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire (my grandparents were Austrian). Then it was Italian. In 1945, it was occupied militarily by 40 tragic days by the communist troops of Tito (Yugoslavia) that wanted to annex it, but for a resolution of UN, it was administered by the Allied military Government of the Free Territory of Trieste (USA and UK) up to 1954. Then it was Italian again.
She had a moment of glory in 1960, when the bathyscaph Trieste reached the depth of 35,760 ft, record never reached so far by other.
Near my city many cruise ships of the Carnival and others company are built.
Trieste was the first free port (1750) that settled down in the world.
It is a very beautiful city, and it is in the center of Europe, with sea and mounts and near several countries of Europe.
Has 270,000 inhabitants.
