Shipwrecks in Long Island Sound

I am interested in finding other divers who want to look for historic ships in Long Island Sound. I have a great dive boat based in Groton and I am just looking for likeminded souls. I have a years of experience diving in Florida (with Mel Fisher) and Virginia (with John Broadwater) for historic artifcats. Lliving in Connecticut I now want to hunt my local waters.

I also do a lot of shore diving on historic sites.

If you can breathe and kick your feet!
You can learn to "Dive"!?
I used to teach SCUBA while I was stationed in Camp LeJ. N.C.!
(How hard can it be? I taught a "ONE LEGGED?? MAN" to "dive"!)
It is a fantasic sport!
It is as close to flying, (being free as a Bird) as man will ever get!
Give it a try!
It's a totally different world!

I'll definitely give it some thought, I've got a 16 year old, a 4 year old and a 8 week old so free time is non existant for now. Who knows maybee I"ll look you up when I retire if that ever happens!!!LOL!!

can you give me the loran numbers for the area near the entreance to Long Island Sound. I want to check my book for shipwrecks and airplanes for that area before it is gone on ebay. I'll see if there may be some close to you.

I have two homes!
One in South Texas, 130 mi. So. of San Antonio, near the Gulf Coast and one in Arizona!
Presently, I am in Texas!
The wife likes the peace and quiet out here, on "The MesquitoRosa"!
The Name is a combo of "Mosquito, Mesquite & Pondarosa"!
AND! At times, we have plenty of the first two !
It's a few of acres that we own, out here in the "Boonies" along the Nueces River!
I have to admit, I do TOO!?
Where else? ? Could I sit on my front porch and shoot? :P? tin cans off the fence posts!

Thanks for the invite cptbil, I've never been to the southwest and would LOVE to see it. It's as cold and nasty as a witch's teat up in the northeast hope you're fairing better there, and who knows maybee one day I'll get down yourway!

Hi,
My name is Chris McLoughlin. I am 55 years old, and havebeen diving for about 25 years. Most of my diving has been in western L I Sound (where I learned
to dive). About 6 years ago we moved our boats out to Mystic CT. and have been doing some diving in Eastern L I Sound and Block Isd Sound
(with a lot of Carribean diving in between). We (my wife and I, who dosn't dive much anymore) have a 37 ft sailboat, a 21 ft Stiegercraft.
The 21 footer I use for diving.
We live in Upstate NY and usually spend most weekends from May thru Nov. on the boat in Mystic.
I recently joined SECONN , a diving club to hook up with some orther divers. I would love to hook up with someone to hunt for wrecks or Treasure, either your boat or mine. (groton is close to Mystic)
If you would like to hook send me an email or reply to this message. from early may on, we spend weekends on the boat. we can get together for lunch or dinner discuss some plans.
FYI I am adv open cert with about 1000 dives I am am thiinking this year to get rescue cert and nitrox cert.

Hi Slipe;

I live in Westbrook, Ct and have recently been certified as an open water diver. I have limited experience in diving. Actually it is limited to the dive course a friend and I took in Puerto Galera, Philippines. It has always been a desire of mine to wreck dive the World War II ships sunk in S.E. Asia. We did get to dive a couple of small wrecks during our dive course but they were just old wooden fishing boats.
