🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Ships Spike? Found on the beach in Masssachusetts Bay

Any idea how old this might be? We found it completely encrusted except for the jagged end. It's hard to tell whether this broke off or this is the entire spike. Pictures include multiple sides and size. The "chunk" is where the head was encrusted

IMO its part of a seawall retaining system bolt.

Similar to this...

OR... part of some anchor fitting... or something.
Not IMO... part of a ship... but it very well could be... will be hard to pin this one down as to its true function /origin.

but since it is wrought iron and not cast, it has some age to it.... also not brass or bronze so most likely not ship related.

Nails like this are shown as being found on, "The Curse of Oak Island." i believe they are pronounced no newer than like 1660, on the show.

I find that stuff on ocean beaches that are not more than 100 years old. Salt water is rough on iron.

I dont think it's a bolt, it is forged or hand wrought and appears to be square. But yes, ship spikes were made of bronze but also forged iron fasteners were used above the water line. So I don't think we can rule out being ship related. But we can't confirm it either, but I do believe it is a spike nonetheless.
