Ship Spike Help

I’m looking for someone to give me some information on this old spike that was given to me. Im told that it came out of a plank found off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. I believe it is brass. I’m wondering how old it is, value and who would have used these. One of the coolest items I’ve ever had. Thanks.

considering you have a nice collection of spikes that appear to be identified, you may be better versed on the item than many of us - IMO

Thanks for moving my post to the proper spot. I appreciate that. I live in Nova Scotia 25 minutes from Oak Island. As for the spikes in the picture it’s very basic info on the block of wood. I would love to know more about them so hopefully some expert opinions come along and write something. Thank you.

I know nothing about ships and not a expert but i would guess before the 19th century for sure sorry i know thats not much help. would like to see a right side up close of your collection.

I guess there’s no way to truly date the spike if they’ve been around that long.

Yes, This Spike...Is an 18th Century Wrought Iron Nail...One used to Nail Down the Ship's Planking.

The 18th Century Freemasons brought all the "Disposable Spanish and English Ships to Oak Island to unload their Treasure and then Dismantled them in the Swamp.

Wait until they locate the "Anchor" of the HMS.., Sterling Castle!~

LOTS of vessels and thousands of men went down on the Grand Banks.
Was the plank brought up in a dragger net or something?

I'm not trying to make any connection to Oak Island as there isn't any. Just looking for as much info as possible and I certainly appreciate all that has been given. Thanks Jude for the info. The plank washed up on shore is what I'm told.
