Here is an item I found at a home site in central Mississippi. It is the image of an early 20th century cruise liner on a brass shield. There is no attachment hooks on the back but there may have been one at the top of the piece. It is the size of a half dollar and is stamped brass. What was it used for? Any guesses? Thanks for helping.

I would guess it is a watch fob. Very cool. I did a quick search but didn't find the same design.

I believe trikikiwi is right. Anything on the back?

All watch fobs have a slot (bail) at the top for the strap to go through, that's how you ID them. Google images: watch fob, and you see them. I believe the slot was smashed off of the top of yours.

Nice find.

I thought Titanic too. However, the image on the supposed fob looks to have only 3 smokestacks whereas titanic had 4, I think. Then I thought Lusitania, but it had 4, too. Maybe Ripcon could let us know if there are 3 or 4 stacks. My eyes are bad anyway

It may depict the famous Elwell Steamship

Similar, but not exact:

Thanks, guys....I'm going with watchfob on this. My ship has 3 stacks like the Elwell pictured in the response. May not be exact but at least I have an id.
