Well, he is a new poster to the forum. We are really not that heartless. Welcome aboard, so to speak. There are a number of experts on just about any subject that frequent this forum. They are ready and willing to help you , because they enjoy the hunt. If you post a photograph of the bell, several of the members will knock themselves out trying too help. For free. I think you just made a mistake in wording your request.

My round about point about email experts was that:

If you email the British Museum's in this instance a Maritime Museum, they will not charge & are normally very helpful.

Try this one, this was my old school before it moved in 1933, not that I went to it then :D

However, I guess you don't want my help as I'm a amateur. ;)

If you want help you have to be willing to except anyone & weed out the idiots like me.

we here can be of great help -- you might be very surprized indeed at what we collectively as a group know --- the wording on it at least - and size would assist in IDing it ---a photo would be even better -- Ivan

Edelson,

Welcome to the forums. A few things (my opinion)

The way that you worded your post almost sounds insulting to those of us who like to help out but are not experts. (But who determines who is the expert?) Sometimes the true answer comes from many guesses by us amateurs. I may have one idea what it is only to be wrong but it may lead to someone else finding the correct thing because my guess made them think of something else.

Also the information that you posted is not specific enough. It is almost like saying you want to know about a car and that it is a red one. Way too many items could fit the description.

Please post a picture if you can and we may be able to help you. If you are new to the internet please have one of your pc-using friends or relatives post a picture for you.

You have posted a phone number and an email address in your request. I would strongly recommend against this as there are spam programs out there that search message boards for email addresses and now you may get bombarded with junk mail.

Happy Hunting,

Scott (Mid-Mich)
