Found the object below on the same property where I found an 1810-1830 "double gilt" button. This is next door to where I found a late-1700s King Louis XVI copper sol back in December.
This piece still has cloth caught between the 2 pieces, which are clasped together. As you can see, it has a hook-shaped part at the top. It measures .9 inches top to bottom and .6 inches side to side and weighs .15 oz.
Is this perhaps a horse/saddle adornment?
I'm very curious as to age and use. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks and HH.
