got this from a teller--- it was a machine reject.
the missing plating is just the start.
coin was bent, so a quick slam between oak boards fixed that.
BUT---- the diameter is .807 inch vs. normal .75 inch. weighs 2.5 grams. rim is present on both sides and relief of details appears normal. no evidence of plating being chemically removed and coin has same grey color of a '43 steel but it is not magnetic.

I know what happens to an egg when slammed between two boards: it gets bigger. :laughing7:
Seriously though, did you check the diameter in more than one direction in case it was distorted from being bent?

Edit: That is an interesting coin and if acid was used to remove the copper the diameter should be smaller, not larger. It does have good details.

Can you give us the dimensions in millimeters since that is what the mint uses (19mm= .748 ")?
Yours seems to be about 5% larger and I'm not sure what the mint uses for acceptable tolerances.

It does appear to be Ovaled I have an unplaced 1982. They are awesome to find

Zinc cents can be easily enlarged by placing them between two pieces of leather or wood and hammering them. This can also be done by heat, but the heating has to be very precise or the coin will just melt.

Missing plating, or plated with zinc over the copper electroplate? If it is thicker, my guess is the latter.

just for giggles...find another 2010 D and compare it to that.
