Shield Cent Made Into Something ?

I dug this Shield Cent a while ago and never could figure out what it was made into. Pictures are front and back. It cannot be seen too well in the photos but there is a shield in there. Any ideas ?

That's an interesting find!
I think the chiseled edge is might be the key to whatever this was used for.

The original owner may have used this as a make-shift blade for
some type of light cutting or scraping purpose (string or leather?)
The two rusted spots might indicate that it was at one time attached
to a handle or maybe the edge of a table or bench.

Whatever it is, it's kind of neat!

looks like it was used as a lock catch maybe on a drawer or lock box

I agree with Relic Lover, looks like a lock catch. It looks like the two rust spots may be where screws held it in place. The heads of the screws may still be rusted in place on it. Just my 2¢.
