I've found a bunch that were broken up but never one that was not. Today found four in good shape. These came from a button factory on the white river in Arkansas that was in use from 1889 until 1938. Just thought you guys would like to see them.

You don't normally find the whole shell there always broke.
 

that's cool. most people probably never gave much thought about how mother of pearl buttons were made

Your right. They used alot of the used shells to put on the roads around this small town back then.
 

i have a few shell buttons, so this post makes it even neater see the shells
