hey guys im new here.thought i would ask about yeterday event i had.i was out digging in a 1970 burn pile and i pulled up a little ball.i thought it was a spray paint ball.but got home and found out it wasnt metal so i googled it told me it was a indian marble or what they used for cooking.ater i found it we went walking by the creek and i was shells laying on the ground it was getting dark so i didnt look that well.i went back this morning and looked a little and found nothing.im starting to think the people that lived there had them dropped of there not sure.ive read that the camps were away from the middin and then i read some post and they where telling me there should be burnt shells.theres none in mine.the area is about 20 ft in diamter.i was wondering if i should wast my time with it or not or try looking for camp site.i know there where indians out here i found a piont inmy yard and the middin is just acroos the street.i would like some advise on this if anyone could help it would nice.i would love to have my own place to dig!thanks

Those people could have eaten shellfish also. I'm guessing you're marble is a clay marble not Native American related. did it look like this?... maybe green.. or yellow.. or just plain clay? If it has a glaze it's probably salt glazed and from the late 18 hundreds through the first part of the 20th century. A photo would help... also.. if it's not your property and you don't have permission you're most likely breaking the law in your state... and my advice would be to leave it alone.
