This was found in the Okojobi, Iowa area many years ago and was gifted to me. I’m not sure “Fossils” is the correct forum, but definitely not a rock. Pretty fragile piece. Amazing how it has held together. So many tiny shells and shell fragments in one compressed mass.
I thought it worth sharing.

Neat. Fossil marine detritus. I can see bryozoans (the mesh-like structures) and a large pelecypod.
 

From the map, it looks like Lake Okojobi is in the glaciated part of your state. If it is, those shells could have come from anywhere north.
