What do I have here? A standard .50 cal is on the left and a 3" short
stubby version is on the right. Bic pen for scale . The head stamp
reads L C 6 6. I've never seen the short one before. Any ideas?

Pretty neat.

Here is the M8C spotter rifle mounted on a M40 Recoilless Rifle.

Just by looking at that M40, I highly doubt it is truly "recoilless" :)

Oh, they are (were). You just don't want to stand within about 200 ft behind it. They still use the M27 version to trigger avalanches in the Rocky Mountains.
