Hi Folks,

I posted this link on treasure marks/signs. The shell crosses were dug at a Great Oasis burial site in central Iowa and dated to about 900 A.D. I was wondering if any of you have seen any Native American artifacts with this design. If you have, could you please post pictures and location and estimated age.

Thanks,

That's a nice looking artifact. I have seen a lot of cross designs, but what I'm curious about is the diamond shape on top. I've hunted points and studied pictures for years but I don't ever remember seeing a diamond shape like these.

Thanks for the link Tnmountains.

No idea on the diamond top. I guess a lot of early art was squares circles crosses and diamonds ? May not have been interpretive of anything. I was told long ago the ancients had 5 compass marks. North, south, east, west and the 5th was where you are standing :)

You could be right about that. No similar artifacts have been found at any other Great Oasis site. Could just be a design that somebody thought looked cool.
