These bullets are found in Louisiana, only in the Trans-Mississipi theater. They are from Nathaniel Banks ill-fated attempt to invade Western Louisiana and East Texas.
The small Confederate Army under General Richard Taylor hammered the union forces at Mansfield and Pleasant Hill and pursued them on their retreat inflicting severe casualties and almost destroying Banks forces. Only the New York Cavalry in this campaign was using the Sharps and Hankins carbine.
