Shamrock/clover copper thingie??

Found this in a private yard, the house dating back to the early 1800's or before. It is 2 1/2 inches tall by 1 3/4 inches wide, the rings on the right side are present and also made of copper, the back is blank except for a stamp/engraving at the bottom saying "Archer"....the rings don't allow it to be opened very wide so is like a narrow purse....Any ideas Thanks.

Anybody have any idea well if it has all the experts on here stumped then I don;t feel bad that I am clueless as to what it is.

that is very cool.
i suggest it is not a purse. judging by the holes on the left, it appears that rings are missing like the ones on the right. could also be some type of wallet that fit into a vest pocket. that is very interesting. i will help you find a picture somewhere.


It may have something to do with a lucky charm of some sorts since it has the clover.

Maybe it's for holding a book of matches . This one is almost the same size as yours . 1 5/8'' wide 2 3/8'' tall . Just a guess .

Michelle, the side view is almost flat, with the rings still intact on the right side (they originally went around the bottom and both sides) are about 1/8 of an inch around.
