While I have had reasonable success with my home made plastic sand scoop, I decided to upgrade
to a stainless model with a handle. But oh! the sticker shock
With the economy the way it is the NZ dollar is now worth about 50c US. Which means to buy
a top of the line stainless scoop would cost me about NZ$440 including freight to NZ.
So I decided to make one, and using a picture of a model I liked, I set about it.
First I made a paper one using secret origami techniques handed down over the ages.
Then a cardboard one to mark out the dimensions for transfer to the metal.
Folded it up to confirm the layout and measurements were pleasing.
Then with the help of a metal working friend, drilled and drilled and drilled, folded and welded
and came up with this.
