I like the brownie....but i did see this video.

We have the gas brownie that's portable, and an electric brownie system built in to one of the boats I work on.

I just want to hit the beaches around here, seems like a way more fun way to look for goodies, pry wouldnt be doing a hole lot unless it really pays off

It's a lot of fun when you can stay on the bottom and dig.....or even try some deeper stuff !!

Hi toecutter. Yes you can build your own hookah unit. Several years ago I built 2 units. A general formula for your compressor would be.. you need 1 psi of pressure per foot of depth and 1.5 cubic feet of air for each 33 feet of depth of water. Counting the surface as 1 atmosphere (33 ft.) I used a 4hp lawn mower motor hooked to the compressor with filters to catch any oil particles that might seep through. You also hook a small air tank to the compressor so tha you have plenty of air available. You mount this on a round piece of plywood and strap it on top of a truck or tractor inner tube. If you are interested contact me and I will give you more specific information.l used my units for 10 years from Florida to the Great Lakes and numerous stone quarries and lakes. Good luck

A couple other alternatives would be the Nemo or AirBuddy. They are both battery operated and float around with you wherever you swim. I did purchase the Nemo myself but have not received it yet so I cannot say how good/bad it is. But from the reviews & research I have read, I'm looking forward to using it.

The Nemo has a 10' air tube, which is what you're looking for, and changeable batteries.
The AirBuddy has a 40' air tube but unfortunately just the one battery source.

Yes build one as CHEEP as you can WHAT IS YOUR LIFE WORTH .??? Spend the money and be secure that your life is secure. Or be CHEEP and gamble your life away. DUHHHHHH

I plan on using a SCUBA tank with a long hose hooked to a regulator. You can buy in various lengths. Should be able to last a couple of hours on a full tank. Can place in a cheap Walmart raft with a dive flag and you're set to go.
