shallow beach hunting.. snorkel or stand?

i normally wade....it seems like it would be easier to know where you have been....so you can try to make overlapping passes

Wading uses less energy and is more efficient. Plus you can see the babes better cause if you snorkel you miss to much.

The dark polarized sun glasses are important too-they cant tell you are watching ;D ;D ;D

I'm new to md's . my long scoop has a 5'' bucket. the sand here is soft and silty. if i miss the target on the first try it takes me a lot of work to get threw the fill in . then any little current pulls me off balance. so i started getting in there with snorkel gear and a hand scoop. it's been allot easy er to handle the current and picking up targets faster. I've try-ed it in up to 2' ft. surf . I'm working on getting a bigger, deeper long handle scoop for when it gets rough.

I have a not so good back some days , so I also have snorkeled to find the goodies. Usually on a not so calm gulf, when the waves are beating on me
IF anyone would have a used wade scoop they want to sell I would be interested.
Thanks

If you are using a hookha rig then that's a good method but snorkling in 4 foot of water is tiresome. I wade in water as deep as 5.5 feet, I'm 6'4" and use a long handled scoop and pull a floating sifting box to dig and dump, dig and dump. ;D Broken shells can hide a good target and the sifting box makes it easier to go through the overburden for a recovery. It also acts as a marker buoy in case any jet skiers/boaters are in the area. I cordone off a spot in the box to keep the junk in and wear a belt pouch for coins and jewelry away from the eyes of the curious. Out of sight/out of mind, I always say. Box works great in Gulf but sucks at the Atlantic. :(
