My Mother called me and said there was a big mess in her yard. The boro is installing new sewer lines and it was her neighbors turn to get new lines in. The trench was almost 100' long X 9' deep. Most of the material coming out of the trench was a heavy yellow clay. There was some dark top soil with bits of glass and pottery piled along one side of the trench. This dirt is where I made most of my metal finds. The find of the day is silver #39 for the year. It is a 1788 Spanish piece about the size of a dime with a small hole drilled in it. This is my second Spanish piece of the year so I'm pretty happy. The other finds are 1946 wheat, 1887 & 1867 Indian cents, 3 flat buttons, buckle and a brass key. The junk items not shown. They include shotgun shells, pull tabs, wire, nails and bits of matchbox & hotwheels I destroyed as a kid. I will be following these guys around as long as they are able to dig. thanks for looking! DD.
