Today was this first day the frozen ground never fully thawed out.
We did 3 hours on The Potato Field in the morning & just less than 2 hours on the Sewage Site in the afternoon.

Picture 4 is all the Sewage Site finds: Gun part, Scrappy, Medieval Lead Button with Iron Shank (don't find many with the shank), bits..

All other pictures are The Potato Field:

Crotal Bell
Medieval Spindle Whorl
Lead Token
Broken Hammered of Ed I (York Mint)
Scarce Find: 12/13th C Limoges Saint Mount for a Cross/Casket, see a better example:

I never thought I would find one of these, they were made in France & enameled by some of the best in Europe at the time. These were high status Church pieces & although not in great condition, I'm very happy with it.

The never ending silver streak! Never seen these casket figurines before.
Now the weird 2020 is over, wish you and "the Team" good luck for 2021! Cheers!

Cheers, I thought the streak would finish last hunt when I was solo. Today, we aimed for 1 hammered on the Potato Field but as it's new ground we are gridding, it's anyone's guess. This field has been good to us though.
Nice to finish just 2 shy of 100 hammered. Although with the Viking/Saxon Pennies that rounded it to the 100.:occasion14:
We will just keep chipping away at the 2 fields plus finish the Grubbed out Hedge Site next year.

I always enjoy seeing your finds. Can't wait to see what you dig up next year. Happy New Year, Crusader!

Cheers, it might be a bit of a grind but both fields should come good eventually, fingers crossed.

Nice hunts as always...
Happy New Year! :occasion14:

I keep an eye on all the Antiquities Auctions, helps me stay current with the market when discussing values with the land-owners & increases my knowledge on items I've not seen. I've seen a few for sale & thought about buying one as I thought it was something I would never find. But I couldn't afford it. I don't do this for artefacts anymore but I still invest in coins that I think I will never get. I've got 1 Gold Roman Coin & a nice example of Offa. (Can't afford a Saxon Gold) These I will hold on to, until I find my own examples & if it never happens, I will sell them as part of my pension. Why not enjoy looking at your pension pot.
