My Plan was to explore new fields in the morning & move to the Sewage Site after lunch, this way it gives us another day on the Sewage Site before we are out of options.
The big explore (2 hrs 45 mins) was covering 10 fields following where we think an old trackway went & then down along the stream water source. Most of these fields we had never stepped on, so it was to suck up the lie of the land. It was pretty unsuccessful for finds & most fields we can permanently cross off, but there were 2 fields worth another try (even if at the bottom of the list). 1 field on the high ground with 360 views must have had Iron Age activity, it just felt right. Finds = Tudor Strap-end, & buttons including a complete with cast pewter loop Queens Own IV Dragoon Guards 1788-1800

The Sewage Site we gridded for 2 hrs 45 mins & got:
9 scrappies
Iron Age Brooch
Broken Roman ring
Medieval Leather Mount
Lead Button
Nearly a half Roman Silver. One of my worst ones but it does takes us to a 5 outing streak of Roman silver...:laughing7::laughing7: (nice save!)

When it first come out the ground dirty I thought it might be some unusual Roman Brooch, then I spotted the flakey modern chrome, so knew it wasn't that old. I can't ID it, but it reminds me of something that suck on a car or ??

You and your Dad always make some interesting finds Cru.
The "flakey modern chrome" piece caught my attention as well, thanks for the explanation.

Hope your Dad will be getting his second shot soon,
Dave

My first thought was Amsterdam because of the three white crosses on black with red on the sides. Maybe a souvenir from a trip to the Netherlands?
