Today The Potato Field was frozen so solid that it was undiggable. We needed a Plan B, & all we had was a nearby grass field owned by the same owner. This field although easy to dig wasn't producing the goods, so I was very pleased when I saw the numbered button come up, because it's one I need.8-)
After lunch the Sewage Site was just about diggable but it was boarder-line. This was almost our first day ever that we couldn't dig.:sadsmiley: Felt like -7 all day.

Grass Field (2.5 hrs):

1948 Halfcrown
57th (The West Middlesex, Die Hards..) Regt of Foot, at first I thought Victorian, as it's a 2-piece but looking closer it's a pre-Vicky Crown, so circa 1820-30s.

Sewage Site (2 hrs 15 mins):

17th C Button
Broken Georgian Trade Weight
Medieval Casket Key
1924 Sixpence - Cru'dad saved the silver streak by the skin of his teeth on the last run!

Not a great day for us, but like I've said I only need a button I haven't had to make me happy.:metaldetector::icon_thumright:

Well, Cru, I would say you still made some nice finds! I would be overjoyed to have some of those pictured finds! Thanks for sharing with us.

I was glad to be digging, although it meant jumping hard onto the spade & bouncing off.
This was only just achievable for Cru'dad who has old knee injuries to watch out for.

Congrats on the button. Die Hards is a catchy name.

I like the numbered buttons, always nice to get one. This is a pretty example with crown and number. At least you could dig. After the rain we had, all is frozen solid now. It started with freezing rain last saturday, then snow and temps down to -12. Must be global warming... :dontknow:

I thought you may have the same issue.
This was the closest we have EVER come to the ground conditions stopping us.
Glad it didn't because being locked in your house all week working, makes you need this more. Because it's the 1 thing you look forward to especially as the pubs are closed & you can't see your mates....
It warms up tomorrow, so all should be well again.....(fingers crossed)

Cheers everyone, here's to a better day tomorrow.....:occasion14:

Love the casket key
