This is not a Roman Sewage Site, just the nick-name we gave it due to the proximity of a modern one.
Whilst I was Fishing on Monday, Cru'dad was scouting this stubble field. I wasn't that keen as it hasn't had a big turn in years, but as he was digging a fair bit of junk & found the Roman Fibula, I thought it worth a try. It is our next best option at this point in the harvesting.
3 hours in light rain got us;
6 Scrappies
Celtic Bronze Potin - Thurrock Type 100-120BC See better example;
Roman Denarius of Lucius Verus AD 161-162 (Only our 2nd silver of him & the same as a previous one found in 2018)

Much better short hunt, but options are still slim.

Denarius has quite an aquiline Roman nose! Great find. I’d say that was a super site to search. Thanks for posting

I think the nose is slipping off...lol But seriously I think its a flaw in the striking of the coin.

Welcome Back, Cotter (US television show) had a character named Arnold Horshack. He resembles the guy on the coin. LOL. Not sure if Britain was every “punished” with that TV show.👍🏼

The potin piece is an amazing recovery 100-120 BC....I can't imagine pulling something like that out of the ground...and the denarius looks to be in great condition....thumbs up!

Outstanding!!! Congrats!!!

What a beautiful and historic silver coin! And from about the time the New Testament was being written. Hard to imagine from this side of the Atlantic. Congratulations on your continued success.

Great finds. That is an impressive Roman silver.
