Seven Silver And A Large Cent Hunt!

It was a gorgeous weekend here and I got to hunt today with my buddy Micah. We drove around for about an hour looking for a place to hunt and was turned downed at the first two places, but we found an old house with a huge yard and the owner's were out enjoying the day as well. After talking to the nice couple about our hobby and the history of the place, we learned that an old store used to sit next to the house. We got permission to hunt and started in the side yard close to where the old store once stood. My second signal into the hunt was a nice Merc. The closer I got to the store site the silver popped out one after another. I stayed in a corner of the yard that was 25' x 25' and dug 4 more Mercs 2 rosies and 8 Wheaties. Things started to slow down and I got a good one way signal at 12-44, I was expecting a clad dime on edge but dug out a bigger coin thinking maybe it was a token. I was so surprised to see the worn Large Cent and couldn't believe it. The hunt had come to an end and was told we could come back at anytime. This was one awesome hunt! HH David

It was target practice for somebody. If you look close you can still see the small lead bullet probably a .22 and it looks like it got hit twice. I have found a lot of shot wheaties here lately.

I was going to say it looked like a .22 target. I permission to detect where I was raised as a child a few weeks ago and that's what I was looking for was pennies I had shot with my .22 as a kid, ended up with 6 in about 30 mins before I had to quit due to back problems. Awesome day for you and can't wait for hunt #2 at your new location.

You've got a great old site there with lots of potential. That matron head LC would make my had spin with excitement, wondering what other oldie might lurk nearby. I'd recommend digging every non-ferrous signal. Those iffy signals often are the best ones. Good luck on your return trips.
