I have some people who have left my phone number with that call me anytime they find anything interesting. Well today was an awsome phone call. A lady who have worked with for a while is getting ready to have an estate sale. She called and wanted to know if I could come over today and help her set up. So I said sure why not, I had nothing else to do so I went to her house for about three hours this morning and just help her take stuff out of boxes and get it set up on tables. All vintage stuff nothing really caught my eye. She had a lot of large China sets and I don't want to be involved in that stuff. A lot of dolls, fabric, clothing. Anyways around 11 o'clock she said she had enough and was done for the day. As I said my goodbyes and headed to the car she asked if I wanted something for helping her. I said no thats fine but I asked if she was selling any gold or silver. She said she had one piece of silver she thought but she wasn't sure if I want to take a look at it. So this is what I got I have no idea what it's worth. But I like it!

I also have a gorham flat ware set I'm going to list for her. But no pics right now, I have not messed with it yet.

That is nice a nice Torri gate artwork. looks like a cigarette case.
not your typical "Mt Fuji in the background" piece.
That is probably a tourist piece from the island of Miyajima.
any japanese writing on the back or inside?

No there's not any writing in it other than the word Sterling on the middle bottom.

If you want to sell on ebay do some research. look up five story pagoda & torri gate Miyajima

see if you can match some features.

also look up "Japanese Sterling Silver Gilt Cigarette Case Box Pagoda"

that case could be worth hundreds.

The Sterling case only sold for hundred and $114.... Maybe starting at $.99 was not a good idea! Dang!

So much depends on timing and the whims of the auction gods. A couple of years ago I sold on ebay a small Nikkor zoom lens that came off my old Nikon film camera. I got $25 for it with one bidder. A few months back I bought the same camera with the same lens at an auction for $5.00. The lens sold on ebay yesterday for almost $75.00. Had multiple bidders this time around.

I'm sorry this didn't sell for more, beachkid, but $114 isn't exactly chump change.

It doesn't have to be up to the auction gods or whims. All you need is a little patience. I would have started that at about 250 at auction, to make sure it showed up well in searches. Then relist as buy it now for same or higher price. Maybe try best offer. Don't depend on one item at a time and you can wait for your price. Nice piece!

38 bucks an hour for helping out. Not too bad. She did give it to you didn't she? You probably could have listed it with a higher BIN and probably sat on it for a few months before it sold. Me, I like a quick sale. :icon_thumleft:
