Useing Noise To Set The Sensitivity On The X-Terra 70
The proper way of setting Sensitivity on the Minelab X-terra 70
to match the ground where you are fixing to detect.
Set up you machine to these settings
4 Tones
30 Sensitivity
30 Volume
20 Threshold
Now press the (AM) ALL METAL MODE button and locate a piece
of ground which is clean with out a audio responce, then proceed to
the Ground Balance Mode and use Auto and add 1 to the ground
balance number.
As you start to swing the X-terra 70 machine you will notice
that the machine thinks it is detecting targets all over the place
but they are actually false reading that the machine is produceing
because the sensitivity setting is too high. The X-terra can produce
50,000 calculations per minute.
Now you want to start to reduce the sensitivity setting until the
machine quiets down and from having the machine from going off
like you have passed over a ton of targets, once this has been
accomplished reground balance the machine in auto again, once
the machine has been reground balanced, go back to the sensitivity
setting number and reduce the number by 1.
This principle works just like driving a car or truck in the fog, if your
head lights are on HIGH beam you can not see the highway, because
the beam is reflected up into the fog, but when you go to useing your
low beams the beam is reflected down wards to the asphalt.
Now you have the maximum sensitivity setting for the piece of
ground you are going to detect.
Once you know where the Sensitivity setting should be placed for a certain
piece of property you can keep records to use in future hunts
