I'm expanding my interest beyond coins to now include paper currency. There are a few bills I'm holding with serial numbers that may or may not be considered "fancy", or whatever the proper terminology is (still studying up). If anyone could shed some light on whether these serials are worth saving, it would be appreciated.

If anything, they are interesting to look at. Thanks!

Hi, it would help to know the denominations. Don't believe folks who who talk about "Liars poker" and the value of these bills......these only have value for that in dark barks, well oiled patrons. Also, i think you are one number way from real interest in your bills. Example 11144777 increases to 11114777, or 11147777. Just my thoughts......not worth a lot.......good luck..................b

Thank you, thank you. I think the paper bug is going to hit as hard as the coin bug!

After understanding Fancy Serial Number notes, you can also reseasrh and look out for 'error notes'. These have various names:
Gutters or Creases, Offset Transfers (Face to Back and Back to Face), Ink Smears, Shifts or Misaligned Overprints, Mismatched Serial Numbers, Inverted Serial numbers, Inverted face.........and many more.
A reference book, such as 'A Guide Book of United States Paper Money' will show you pics of each of these error notes.

That book seems like it would be helpful
