Okay, I just had an interesting idea for the serial #'s on bills (though it's probably been done already. But who knows, maybe I just came up with a new collectible fad. :wink:)
If you look at the key pad on a phone, most of the numbers also have letter equivalents. What if you converted the serial # to letters?

Here's an obviously made up example:
L 6 6 5 2 8 8 4 4 S
L mm j a t t g g S
L n n k b u u h h S
L o o l c v v i i S
(LookatthiS)

2=abc 3=def 4=ghi 5=jkl 6=mno 7=pqrs 8=tuv 9=wxyz

Crazy idea, or what? :D

This is going to be a "one-in-a-million find" hobby. Went through a whole mess of $1 bills, but only got a gibberish one.

L62749566E = LOB SHY LONE

Might as well set a few new rules to make it easier:

* A zero (0) can be counted as an "o"
* A one (1) can be counted as an "L" ( as it looks like a lowercase L in some type fonts. Dotting the 1 to make it an "i" would be cheating.)

That should increase chances by a smidge. Finding a name is going to be a goal, definitely a challenge....

Found that most bills are pretty beat up. Crispies would have added value.
Ran across a 'name' one:

E55437073D = ELLIE (prs) O (prs) (def) D

The last 5 'letters' give lots of possibilities:
pOpeD, rOpeD, sOpeD, pOreD, pOseD, sOreD (or 'sO reD')

Also found a 'close but no cigar':

K23332112G = KAFFE ALLAG (If only that last G had been an H....)

Yeah, I know, I'm boring you.... :wink: :D

An interesting idea.
Reminds me of the "topical" collecting of stamps. :read2:

I guess what you save and collect should have meaning and enjoyment to you. Part of the enjoyment is in the collecting and finding "the one" that you've been looking for! :thumbsup:

Best Wishes,
Scott
