Haven't been out in about 3 weeks, so Roz and I took the treck. It's about a 1/2 hour walk to this new spot we found about 6 weeks ago. Previously found a 1877 cc Seated Dime at this spot. We loaded Roz up with a 12 pack and headed out. About an hour into it, I decided to hunt around where I found the seated dime and got a bottle cap hit at 6". Dug this IH out but could not see the date. My next hit about 5 feet away was a solid quarter hit again at 6". When searching the dirt it turned to a penny hit, and could see the disc. Kind of hard to see the date, but under magnification it's an 1824. After cleaning the IH with warm water and a toothbrush I discovered it was an 1876 and in pretty decent shape. There are a couple small chips on the edges, but overall, I'm happy with it. How we missed these the first time around is beyond me. Just goes to show ya, one day you pass them by, the next they are there! I think I should have used a blue backround with these. Maybe they would look better. HH Hogge

Congrats on a good hunt there.

Strange how that happens, huh? :icon_scratch: There are sites around here we've hit a dozen times or more, and usually end up with something to bring home. :D Those are some fantastic finds, Hogge! :icon_pirat:

Nana :)

That's 2 years closer than mine Hogge. You were almost on top of it :-\ Nice old coins you found. Will the LC clean up at all??

Nice going on the LC and the IH. Those deep Indians can sure sound like bottle cap! It is the main reason I keep the bottle cap reject low!

Nice going!

I know what you mean about wondering how you missed signals before. Good saves on those two and with fall aproaching quickly, I expect you will be digging some more oldies soon. Good luck!

I have yet to comprehend this phenomenon of a major, obvious, easy hit not there one day and there the next. My gold ring avatar is an example of this unique universal law. I went over this exact same spot no less than 4 times, with 2 different machines, and it was only 3-4" down. It is a small path only 2 foot wide and 10 feet long from stairs to door, and hit with it a 5.75" coil twice before. Then there it was in my hand. Go figure.

I have found plenty of old copper, but there is NEVER old silver nearby!

nice indian, hogge. i found the same date last week at a spot i had pounded several times before. not just any spot, but a 3x5 foot area that produced two other early indians and a flying eagle. those indians can be wily... congrats, dwayne
