Call any and all reputable Jewelry Stores and Gold Buyers! There are plenty of the them around but you want the best prices, so ask what they are paying for scrap (i.e. for 10k, 14k, 18k) for the items you have to sell. Also, you might find someone on Craigslist paying a lot more but use due care. If you arrange a meet, weigh all of the items per their' purity ahead of time, agree on a public location where there will be a lot of people (inside a restaurant at a table is preferrable, as you have a good place to sit weighing scales and can take your time, as long as you purchase a drink or food or both) and always be careful when you leave with money in your' pocket. You can never be too safe, make your way to your vehicle and make sure that no one is following you. There are also companies like Kitco which pay pretty good prices but they buy below spot, you probably will have to establish an account and have a lot of scrap Gold as they don't deal in small amounts.

Thanks Frank! Another question, if a watch band says 14k on it, does that mean just the band itself, or are the fasteners and everything gold?

NOTE: I believe gold is sold in troy ounces. So any scale you use would have to measure in this mode. I just learned this myself selling a couple of gold coins.

gold and silver is sold by troy ounce, 31.1 grams=1 troy ounce, hope this helps

Thanks

Probably just the band as the fasteners have to be harder to hold and last. In any case, the rest of the band (besides the links) weighs very little, so there will probably be no deduction for them by a Buyer.

Now he won't answer his email, phone or PM's here on T-net. :laughing7: Ok... I lied, I do talk to Frank every other day... BUT IT SOUNDS GOOD!!!!!!! Right??????????????? Damn buddy's... at least send me a pic of the "Lost Golden Horseshoe" you found... PLEASE Frank.... Later...

I would recomend researching gold refiners in your area.some will but directly from you and their common commision is 10-15%...alot better than the middlemen prices.less convienient tho.
