A big concern of many people. A thread to track all state and federal bills that have been filed proposing the seizure / confiscation of firearms. Not a thread to debate the merits / we have plenty of those already.

Missouri HB 545................this will be a loooooooong thread if they all get listed

10-bill package for Calif
cut and pasted:
The 10-bill package constitutes the single largest gun control push in decades in the Golden State, which already boasts some of the nation’s strictest gun laws. It joins equally controversial proposals from Assembly Democrats that would regulate and tax ammunition sales and consider taking the state’s 166,000 registered assault weapons from their owners.
This first unified California plan comes less than a month after New York adopted its own sweeping package of new gun controls and President Barack Obama announced a package of executive actions, all in the wake of December’s Connecticut schoolhouse massacre. Even as this plan emerged Thursday, House Democrats’ gun violence task force was announcing 15 “policy principles,” including protecting Second Amendment rights but also instituting universal background checks and reinstating a federal assault weapons ban.

Or any link to such a list. Must be ones on gun rights sights? Not looking to make a lot if work.

I'm not sure what they are in every state but in Florida here is a list of some medications used to treat seizures: Depakote, gabapentin, Dilantin, tegretol, lamictal, Topamax, keppra, and zonegran. There are others but they are variants of these bases. Benzodiazepines can break seizures but are not good long term seizure meds.

I don't know much about confiscation of firearms but I hope this is helpful.

Crisp why would a doctor prescribe Depakote and Dilantin together after a seizure The person we treated had a severe reaction to the combination his reply on a Friday nite was to stop taken one of them Was one of those time even you would scratch your head

Good question. You don't see that too enough. Here are a couple of ideas...
1. He was not controlled with just one med and needs both.
2. He is bipolar, needs the Depakote for that and it will not control the seizures; hence, add the dilantin.
3. Polypharmacy and doctor is afraid to stop one.

Both Depakote and Dilantin have narrow therapeutic indexes (the amount it takes to treat and the amount it takes to kill are very close.) My guess is that he did not have a severe reaction...but was either Depakote or Dilantin toxic. They do not interact with each other or have a synergistic effect. If he had been on them for a while then it would be odd to suddenly develop a reaction. He other got dehydrated and become toxic or overdosed and became toxic.

Consult me any time. ;)
