Going to a seeded hunt where a cordoned off area is littered with various sizes of steel washers just thrown into the tall grass (nothing buried).

I'm very new to the 800 and was figuring I could put it into all metal mode, but does it matter whether I start off in Park 1 or Park 2, or Field 1 or 2 first, before I hit the horseshoe/all-metal button?

Also, as this is a timed hunt, I may inadvertently hover over a buried target, looking for a washer which does not exist...which I won't want to dig at that time (I won't have a shovel anyway). So, for steel washers, can I assume that they will all be in the negative numbers, and I can notch out anything above 0?

any thoughts, tips, etc., would be appreciated!

Save your batteries and just drag a magnet.

Seriously, the least they could have done is used Pennies. If you can only use an MD, then turn sensitivity way down so you don't get double and triple tones off the coil edges.

Turns out, they used monopoly game pieces (top hat, racecar, wrench, etc...). They rang in the US Quarter range. After an hour and a half of 30 people looking for 82 of these game pieces, we only found about 40
