Sedwick Auction #6

There are a lot of gold cobs in it with rarely seen dates, and in pretty good condition. The gold cross is interesting too, a little different workmanship than other crosses I have seen.

Yeah, it is a beautiful crucifix. Imagine finding something like that on the beach!

Serious cob collectors definitely ought to order the auction catalog. The one from #5 was very well done, as I imagine this one is. His catalogs become collectors items pretty quick themselves. You rarely see one of the earlier ones for sale! Anyway, they are a great reference source, and they will send you a prices realized sheet after the auction. That makes it an excellent resource for determining current cob values.

That gold cross was found by my treasure hunting buddy, Frank Giovenco of Tampa. It is also featured in Bob Wellers book "Shipwrecks of Wabasso Beach." Frank is retired now and decided to sell.

Just had a look at it since the book was an arm's length away. Thanksgiving '84 huh? What a turkey to remember!
