Sedimentary or Petrified Wood???

Hope the pictures went through. This is prob Sedimentary but the way it weathered kinda looked like petrified wood. Thanx for Help: Shawn :)

Hey Thanks so much!!! I was really hoping it was petrified wood!!! I usually find small fragments around 2x1 inch or 3x1 inch pieces. This one is about 5" by 4" so if it's PW this is my biggest find yet!!! Its beautiful just the way it is, but I cant help but think about polishing the stone to make the grains stand out. Thanx Again: Shawn :)

Really nice petrified wood. Wish I could tell you what kind. Looks mineralized. Chip some off at the end, you may be surprised...

Not IMO, That's a metamorphic rock created by metamorphism. A weathered piece of Granite or Schist Gneiss is what I say that is.

I like to check the sides and ends of possible pet wood with a lighted jewelers loupe (cheap on ebay for a couple bucks), the really agatized AZ colorful wood doesn't show wood cells, but the tan, brown ones do.
Worth hanging onto - ask a local (club or rock shop), they can help.
