security thing, help with ID

So i posted this on todays finds but I think this will be a better place to help me find out what this thing is. the place where i found this has relics dating back to mid-late 1800's,. there was a fresh cut i was able to detect yesterday when i found this item. any info would be greatly appreciated.

Suspender cross piece?

there use to be a hotel that erected in 1880 here, is it possible early security guards had labeled suspenders?

I agree with back of the boat, it's the piece that goes where suspenders form a 'Y' on your back. the name 'security' just being the brand. a name like that would make you think they would 'stay put' or stay 'secure' to help entice you to buy them

I'd say probably somewhere between 1885-1905. I base that on the style of lettering and the 'engraved' look
