still cold here in Ohio , but sunny. I went out to my favorite spot and found the usual clad coins. I was finding a lot of quarters (clad) I think because the ground was wet. I was in an old park where a circus was held each summer about 50 years ago. I finally gave up due to attracting a lot of kids asking a lot of questions. I did take my time to talk to them and explain what I was doing. When the group got about 15 kids I called it a day. I had a great time however ! Oh , by the way. my first time out was Feb. a foot of snow on the ground. My wife lost an important key playing outside with the dog. Yep I found the key.... The next day on the floor of her car !

I took mine out this spring, first time user. Didn't find too much as the ground is still frozen solid so I took to just looking around for surface stuff in the section of brush behind my yard. Found lots of screws and nails, least I know it works lol. My friend has a few old homestead properties that I'll be looking around in once the ground finaly thaws.

I got out last Friday and Saturday for the 1st time since early Jan. Felt nice to swing the coil again. I am about an hour SW of Cleveland. The ground is thawed in this area.

Children are like dogs, do not make eye contact with them or acknowledge their presence and most will drift away. If they hang around, I simply tell them to go away. Not that I don't like kids but had one stick their hand into my hole just as I was moving my digger in again and I came so close to cutting them. Just not worth the risk.

I've been to the beach twice this year (RI). The first time it was frozen solid and then much better two weeks later. I got two mercs so I guess that's not a bad start. I can't wait to get back in the dirt though. Maybe this weekend.

^^^ Hi Johnoh see you are in RI - would you know - Is Watch Hill/Napatee and between to Misquamicut in play for detecting? PM if like? Thx in advance.

I haven't detected any further south than Narragansett. I would think that if it's a public beach you would have no problem. I mostly hunt a private beach and never had a problem in RI. HH
