Got out before the rain started this morning. Went to a park in another township. I was granted permission to detect in all the parks and open space land throughout this particular township. Unlike my own township, I actually have permission to dig. Used the Deus 2 with the new (to me) remote and the 9" coil. Started off with the Tekkna program. Did pretty well attempting to stay away from all the iron.

First find is a fuse base, I think.

Went over to another area of the park with ponds. I added more programs to the Deus 2 last night. I decided to try John Oliver's "Sniper" program from his Deus 2 for Dummies. My first find about 9 inches deep was my second silver coin ever. A 1924 Mercury Dime! It's got some scratches on it, gees, I hope I didn't cause those!

I didn't get to play with the "Sniper" program after my silver dime. Some people showed up to fish, and we decided to head on home. No problem, I already found treasure!

Thanks for looking...

Congrats. My opinion the marks around the t and y were recent. Unless you spun your pinpointer not sure how you could make the mark on her ear. Definitely not certain on my second guess but your first item looks like the top to an old tablet bottle (think rolaids, tums, etc).

I like that identification better. A cap for an old tablet bottle sounds about right.

1924 is a good year !

Well dug getting your second silver.
The Mercury Dime is a great looking coin, love the design.
I believe you're not guilty in the hit(s) on the coin.

The dark patina in the scratches shows they've been there for some years.
It's when it happens (hitting one) after digging for decades is an ouch, grumble, oh crap feeling.

If you feel bad for scratching a coin, don't ... I was coin hunting around the University of Columbia sc and got a good quarter signal, and since I was in a newer area I used a screwdriver to find it... ground was relatively hard and I pushed down..
Once out of the ground I found I had dug an 1877 seated liberty quarter, (my only one in 30 years) with the biggest screwdriver gouge across the front that you have ever seen...
Soooo if you ever do that to something, just know that someone somewhere has FT up something even worse..
😳 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

My first was a 1940 in pretty close to the same condition; yours may be a little better!

Still waiting on hunting for my second! 😁

I got lucky, my first was a 1918 D. Just went back to see if there are any more oldies. Too many people fishing. I'll do early morning next Saturday again.
