this is a recent find of mine. from here in florida. it is 1 of 2. but this 1 is in better shape.. found with kaolin pipes musket balls and flint

From the early 1800's I think 1812. This button was carried into Florida by a militia man or a U.S. Army regular. The uniforms did not become standardized until 1838 and put into effect in 1839. Many different units and Indian tribes came to Florida to fight against the seminoles. I think 12-14 different states and 4 indian tribes.
